When Does "Frost/Nixon" (2006) Take Place?

"Frost/Nixon" is a historical fiction stageplay written by Peter Morgan and first performed on August 10th, 2006. 




It takes place in the year: 

1977 AD 


We know this because its opening includes the resignation speech of U.S. President Richard M. Nixon, which occurred on August 8th, 1974 AD. The play then jumps ahead to the hiring of the researchers to prepare for the upcoming interviews in 1976 AD. We know this happened in May 1976 AD based on the account of one of the men hired to assist David Frost conduct these interviews, James Reston Jr. 

However, the majority of the play depicts the taping of the famous interviews between Frost and former president Nixon that began recording on March 23rd, 1977 AD.
