When Does “Planet of the Apes” (1963) Take Place?

"La Planète des singes" (released for English-speaking audiences as "Planet of the Apes" or "Monkey Planet) is a science fiction novel written by Pierre Boulle and released June 1st, 1963.

It takes place on an alternate timeline of the fictional Planet of the Apes universe in the year:

3200 AD

We know this because astronauts Ulysse, Antelle, and Levain leave Earth behind in 2500 AD (according to Ulysse's account) but the bulk of the story occurs after their trip on a space ship  (during which about 700 years pass on Earth, because of time dilation due to time being relative based on speed thanks to gravity, as described by Einstein in the Theory of Relativity, making it 3200 AD) to a planet in a different solar system.

Additionally, there is a frame story in which Ulysse's writings about their story have been found sometime after 3200 AD but otherwise unplaceable
