When Does "The Trial of the Chicago 7" (2020) Take Place?

"The Trial of the Chicago 7" is a historical fiction film written by Aaron Sorkin and released September 25th, 2020. 


It takes place in the years: 

1969 AD - 1970 AD 


We know this because it depicts the famous and tragic trial of the major leaders of the American anti-Vietnam War left. The film's main action begins as their trial began on September 24th, 1969 AD and ends with the sentencing near the end of the trial on February 20th, 1970 AD. 

The opening of the film includes a typewriter representing the U.S. intelligence agency reports in advance of the protests and the typed report is clearly dated as "5/10/68". 

Flashbacks during various testimonies mostly take place during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago and the protests and riots that occurred during it in August of 1968 AD.
