When Does the Graphic Novel "Two Brothers" (2015) Take Place?
"Two Brothers" is a historical fiction graphic novel written by Fábio Moon with Gabriel Bá [adapting "Dois Irmãos" (2000) by Milton Hatoum] and released October 14th, 2015.
It takes place in the years:
We know this because, early on, the narrator (a future child of one of the twins) tells us with a textbox, "It happened a year before the Second World War..." referring to "the twins' separation" (presumably dating the opening of World War II to 1939 AD) and then, soon after, in another textbox, "Yaqub left for Lebanon, only to return to Manaus five years later."
1943 AD - 1949 AD

Though, later, the narrator says, "One morning in August 1949" and, immediately after, "At Christmas 1949, Yaqub informed the family that he was leaving" again.
So, the main action of the narrative takes place from 1943 AD to 1949 AD and most flashbacks take place just before Yaqub leaves Brazil in 1938 AD.
