When Does "Guernica" (1937) Take Place?

"Guernica" is a historical fiction narrative-picture painted by Pablo Picasso and unveiled June/July 1937.

It takes place in the year:

1937 AD

We know this because it depicts the tragic and famous bombing of the town of Guernica, Spain on April 26th, 1937 by the Nazi German and fascist Italian air forces during the Spanish Civil War. Though the painting has allegorical elements, it is titled after the town from the then-recent attack.
