When Does "X-O Manowar" #1 (1991) Take Place?
"X-O Manowar" #1 v1 "Retribution" Part 1 "Into the Fire" is a superhero comic-book written by Jim Shooter with Steve Englehart and released November 1991.
We know this because the first scene of the issue is nearly identical to the last scene of the prequel issue, "X-O Manowar" #0 v1 (1993), which includes a place and time setting textbox midway that reads, "in Earth orbit, November 3, 1991".
Later scenes include an internal monologue textbox that states "Half a day in the city already" and no further comments are made on time but Aric walks from somewhere with snow to somewhere tropical in an early page. Presumably, a few weeks pass in the comic. That puts it in early November through roughly early December of 1991.
It takes place on the fictional Valiant Universe timeline in the year:
1991 AD

It has been collected into a volume 1 hardcover subtitled "Birth" and a volume 1 paperback subtitled "Retribution".
It is an early chronological comic-book in the Valiant Universe (a chronologically second comic to feature X-O Manowar) and can be read at its timeline point.
