Additionally, very early in the story there's a flashback introduced with Olive Penderghast's narration: "back in 8th grade". There's also a joke during this flashback in her narration, "Luckily, we had a super romantic song from our youth to set the mood" and the song that plays on the soundtrack (and is implied to be diegetically playing for the characters) is "Don't Cha" (2004) by Anthony Ray with Thomas Callaway. It released on November 30th, 2004 AD so the flashback is probably after November of 2004 AD.
