When Does "Back to the Future Part II" (1989) Take Place?

"Back to the Future Part II" is a science fiction film written by Bob Gale with Robert Zemeckis that released November 22nd, 1989. So when is "Back to the Future Part II" set?

It takes place (partially on an alternate timeline) in the years:

1985 AD/2015 AD/1955 AD

We know this because all three time settings are stated and shown on the dashboard of Doctor Emmett Brown's time machine several times.

The film picks up exactly where the previous film, "Back to the Future" (1985), left the audience, in 1985 AD.

Immediately upon arrival in "the future", Doc Brown says it is "October 21st, 2015". So it is certainly October of 2015 AD.

After they return to 1985 AD, the characters discover that somehow (unbeknownst to them) their entire timeline has been changed. This altered timeline is referred to as "1985A" on Doc Brown's drawn chalk diagram. While it is an alternate timeline, it is still 1985 AD.

When the mystery is resolved, Marty McFly says, "You're not gonna believe this! We have to go back to 1955!" The characters return to that date (November 5th, 1955 AD) with the time machine for the plot's conclusion.
