When Does the Third Remake of "Godzilla", "Godzilla Minus One" (2023), Take Place?

"Gojira Mainasu Wan" (released for English-speaking audiences as "Godzilla Minus One") is an adventure horror (kaiju) film written by Takashi Yamazaki [remaking "Gojira" (1954) by Takeo Murata with Ishirō Honda] and released in a public theater October 18th, 2023. (Wide release was November 3rd, 2023.)

It takes place in the years:

1946 AD - 1947 AD

We know this because the main action of the movie starts with a time setting title card that reads "March 1946". Several scenes follow with a series of more title cards along the way that bring us from "July 1946" through "March 1947", and, finally, to "May 1947". The narrative moves quickly from that point so it almost certainly ends within that second year.

Additionally, there are two prologues. The first includes a time and place setting title card reading "1945 Odo Island Airfield, final days of World War II" and does indeed depict a wartime scenario from the end of the Pacific theater aerial fighting at the end of World War II. (World War II ended in 1945 AD.) The second one begins with another time and place setting title card that tells it is "December 1945 Tokyo" as Koichi returns to find the destruction left by the Allied bombing of the city in March of 1945 AD

It can be retroactively absorbed into the MonsterVerse Universe at a chronologically early spot (a first chronological film to feature Godzilla) and can be watched at its timeline point, as an extended flashback before "Godzilla vs. Kong" (2021) [with or without the "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" (2023) TV show], or entirely separately.
