When Does "The Trapp Family" (1956) Take Place?

"Die Trapp-Familie" (released to English-speaking audiences as "The Trapp Family") is a historical fiction film written by George Hurdalek with Herbert Reinecker and released October 9th, 1956.

It takes place in the years:

1926 AD - 1938 AD

We know this because it tells part of the story of the real-world Austrian bandleader Maria von Trapp. Very early in the movie, Maria meets the von Trapp family for the very first time in 1926 AD. (The housekeeper Matilda here says, "The worst for him was the death of his wife 4 years ago." Which is absolutely lined up. Agathe von Trapp [nee. Whitehead] died in 1922 AD.)

Later, at about the halfway point of the narrative, we are shown Maria's marriage to the real-world Austrian submarine commander Georg von Trapp which happened in the real world on November 26th, 1927 AD

Finally, Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany invades and annexes Austria (as in the real world) on March 12th, 1938 AD and the film ends with them fleeing Austria in June and their arrival in the United States of America in September of 1938 AD.
