When Does "King Kong vs. Godzilla" (1962) Take Place?

"Kingu Kongu tai Gojira" (released to German-speaking audiences as "Die Rückkehr des King Kong"/"The Return of King Kong" or "Schlachtfest der Giganten"/"Battle-Party of the Giants" and Italian-speaking audiences as "Il trionfo di King Kong"/"The Triumph of King Kong") is an adventure horror (kaiju) film written by Shinichi Sekizawa with George Worthing Yates and released August 11th, 1962.

It takes place in the year:

1962 AD

We know this because a Japanese newspaper front page is visible announcing events seen during the plot of the film dated for June 23rd, 1962 AD.

It has been retroactively absorbed into the MonsterVerse Universe at a chronologically midway spot (a third chronological film to feature Godzilla and second chronological film to feature King Kong) and can be watched at its timeline point after the previous film, with or without the "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" (2023) TV show

An Americanized cut written by Paul Mason with Bruce Howard was titled "King Kong vs. Godzilla" and released June 26th, 1963.

The timeframe of this version of the film is unplaceable as the shots of Japanese newspaper front pages have been removed.
