When Does the Film "The Apple Dumpling Gang" (1975) Take Place?

"The Apple Dumpling Gang" is a comedy historical fiction film written by Don Tait [adapting "The Apple Dumpling Gang" (1971) by Jack Bickham] and released July 24th 1975.

It takes place in the year:

1879 AD

We know this because when Robert Bradley, Celia Bradley, and Clovis Bradley bring their recently discovered giant nugget of gold to the appraiser's office, they label it "TAKEN FROM THE COMMODORE MINE, QUAKE CITY, CALIF. BY ROBERT, CLOVIS AND CELIA BRADLEY SEPT. 25, 1879". The three children have only arrived in Quake City a matter of days or weeks earlier. So the entire story takes place in September of 1879 AD.

Reference is made in the movie's second scene to various earthquakes when Sheriff/Judge/Barber Homer McCoy says, "Quake of '65 pinched off the veins, but the quake we had 2 years ago finished us off for good." and this is perhaps referring to the real-world California/Oregon Coast Earthquake that happened on November 23rd, 1873 AD or the real-world Oregon Earthquakes that occurred on October 12th, 1877 AD or the relatively minor real-world San Francisco Earthquake on September 1st, 1877 AD

1873 + 2 = 1875
or
1877 + 2 = 1879.

The 1877 Oregon Earthquakes and the one in 1877 AD in San Francisco obviously line up beautifully with the label on the Bradley children's golden nugget while the 1873 California/Oregon Coast Earthquake does not.

Furthermore, the little trio pass by a theater with an advertisement up promising, "DIRECT FROM SAN FRANCISCO", Edward E. Kidder's play "A Poor Relation", which was first performed sometime in the late half of the nineteenth century.
