When Does "Brave New World" (1932) Take Place?

"Brave New World" is a political science fiction novel written by Aldous Huxley that released on February 4th, 1932. So when is "Brave New World" set?

It takes place in the year:

2540 AD

We know this because at the very beginning of the story, the narrator tells us: "in this year of stability, A. F. 632". So it is currently 632 AF

Later, the Controller says, "The introduction of Our Ford's first T-Model ..." then "Chosen as the opening date of the new era." Scholars deduced from this that the "A.F." in the character's calendar stands for AFTER FORD, i.e. after Henry Ford, so the calendar of "the new era" counts from the introduction of the Ford Model T car on October 1st, 1908 AD. It is therefore 2540 AD on the Gregorian calendar

1908 + 632 = 2540.

It was adapted as an audio drama in 1956, to film in 1980, to film again in 1998, to TV in 2010, for the stage in 2015, and to TV again in 2020.
