When Does "EuroVision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" (2020) Take Place?

"EuroVision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga" is a comedy film written by Will Ferrell with Harper Steele that released June 26th, 2020. So when is "The Story of Fire Saga" set?

It takes place in the year:

2020 AD

We know this because though the main action begins with a white-on-black title card merely reading "PRESENT DAY" the answer comes much later in the movie.

Halfway through the narrative Graham Norton clearly announces, "Welcome to the EuroVision Song Contest 2020!" during the beginning of the semi-finals for the real-world annual EuroVision Song Contest. Though the 2020 contest was cancelled in the real world due to the famous and tragic 2020 worldwide COVID-19 pandemic it was scheduled for May and presumably the covid-19 pandemic did not happen during 2020 AD in the fictional world (diegesis) of "The Story of Fire Saga". So it's probably May of 2020 AD.

Additionally, there is a prologue that opens with a time and place setting title card that reads, "HUSAVIK,  ICELAND  APRIL 6,  1974". The characters are watching the international debut of the song "Waterloo" by Benny Andersson with Björn Ulvaeus and Stikkan Anderson on television at the real-world 1974 19th Eurovision Song Contest. The TV screen even displays "EUROVISION SONG CONTEST 1974" on it just before their performance starts. This did indeed happen on April 6th, 1974 AD so it is April of 1974 AD

Finally, there's an epilogue only labeled "SOME TIME LATER" by a title card over the footage but the presence of a baby that doesn’t appear to be a newborn and is strongly implied to be the child of two characters who do not yet have a child during the main action tells us it's been at least 9 months so it's now something like February of 2021 AD

5.2020 + 9 months = 2.2021.
