When Does the First Film "The Sands of Kurobe" (1968) Take Place?

"Kurobe no Taiyō" (literally "The Sun of Kurobe" or "The Sun in Kurobe" but released to English-speaking audiences as "The Sands of Kurobe") is a historical fiction film written by Masato Ide with Kei Kumai [adapting "Kurobe no Taiyō" (1964) by Shōji Kimoto] that released February 17th, 1968. So when is "The Sands of Kurobe" set?

It takes place in the years:

1950s AD

We know this because Kitagawa is involved in the creation of the Kanden Tunnel needed to bring supplies to the site of the construction of the unique real-world Kurobe Dam, which started in July of 1956 AD and was competed in June of 1963 AD. So it must take place between July of 1956 AD and June of 1963 AD.
