When Does the Film "Constantine" (2005) Take Place?

"Constantine" is a horror film written by Kevin Brodbin with Frank Cappello [adapting "Hellblazer" #43-#45 v1 (1991) by Garth Ennis] that released February 18th, 2005. So when is "Constantine" set?

It takes place on an alternate timeline of the fictional DC Films timeline in the year:

2003 AD or 2004 AD

We know this because early in the movie Father Hennessy is looking through a stack of newspapers and finds an article titled "Suicide in Psychiatric Ward" referring to the events shown earlier in the story but another article is visible for just a flash that reads, "Eleven months ago, asked about whether he’d run for governor, Schwarzenegger parried"… and real-world actor-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger announced his campaign for governor of California on August 6th, 2003 AD so the latest point he might still need to have "parried" a question about "whether he’d run for governor" would have been just before this in early August of 2003 AD. The newspaper must be current since it refers to Isabel Dodson’s death, so it must be before July of 2004 AD at this point in the narrative.

8.2003 + 11 months = 7.2004.

The same article Father Hennessy discovers states "30 year old Isabel Dodson, found dead"… so, assuming the reporter’s work is accurate, both Isabel and Angela (being twins) are/were probably 30-years-old at the beginning of the story.

It is a chronologically early film in the DC Films timeline and can be watched at its timeline point or after entirely separately.
