When Does "The Christmas Chronicles" (2018) Take Place?

"The Christmas Chronicles" is a comedy fantasy film written by Matt Lieberman with David Guggenheim that released November 22nd, 2018. So when is "The Christmas Chronicles" set?

It takes place in the year:

2018 AD

We know this because when Kate Pierce visits the North Pole she discovers a letter written to Santa Claus by her brother Teddy Pierce post-marked "DEC 03  2018" and Kate says, "Teddy wrote one this year?"

Furthermore, throughout the movie Teddy and Katie are recording their adventure with a handheld video camcorder (specifically a Sony Handycam) and its automatic digital timestamp in the corner of the video reads: "DEC 24, 2018". The Sony Handycam handheld digital video recorder was first available in 1985 AD.

More specifically, almost the entire story takes place on Christmas Eve so in line with the timestamp it is December 24th, 2018 AD.

Additionally, the movie begins with a montage of Christmas a over a decade of digital timestamp reads "DEC 25, 2006", onto "DEC 25, 2007", "DEC 25, 2008", "DEC 25, 2011", then "DEC 22, 2013" and "DEC 25, 2013", "DEC 25, 2016", and, finally, "DEC 25, 2017". So the prologue rams us through December of 2006 AD, December of 2007 AD, December of 2008 AD, December of 2011 AD, December of 2013 AD, December of 2016 AD, and, lastly, December of 2017 AD
