When Does "Dazed and Confused" (1993) Take Place?
"Dazed and Confused" is a historical fiction comedy film written by Richard Linklater that released September 24th, 1993. So when is "Dazed and Confused" set?
It takes place in the year:
We know this because Randall "Pink" Floyd is asked by the Lee High School Football Coach Conrad to sign a "pledge sheet" the audience can partially see that reads "I voluntarily agree to not"... "as a team have commited to"... "season in '76". High school football season begins in September and ends before Christmas. So it must be before autumn of 1976 AD.

More specifically, Ms. Janey Stroud tells her students on their way out the door, "Hey guys, one more thing! Hey! This summer, when you're being inundated with all this American bicentennial Fourth of July brouhaha, don't forget what you're celebrating! And that's the fact that a bunch of slave-owning, aristocratic, white males didn't want to pay their taxes!" Later, after the baseball game a sign can bee see clearly that reads: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA 1776- 1976" and the United States of America bicentennial celebrations indeed occurred on July 4th, 1976 AD.
Furthermore, at the end of the opening credits a time setting title card superimposed over the footage tells us it's the "Last Day of School May 28, 1976 1:05 P.M." So presumably it is May of 1976 AD.
