When Does the Film "Spider-Man: Homecoming" (2017) Take Place?

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" is a superhero film written by of Jonathan Goldstein with John Francis Daley, Jon Watts, Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers, and Eric Pearson [adapting "The Amazing Spider-Man" #2 (1963) by Stan Lee as well as "Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man" #45 (1980) by Roger Stern] that released July 5th, 2017. So when is "Homecoming" set?

It takes place on the fictional Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline in the year:

2016 AD

We know this because Aaron Davis' file appears digitally on screen with "DATE OF BIRTH  APRIL 15th, 1984" and the artificial intelligence Peter Parker names Karen speaks out-loud and says, "Aaron Davis, age 33."

1984 + 33 = 2017.

HOWEVER, it's stated that only 2 months have passed since the events of "Captain America: Civil War" (2016), which ends in March or April of 2016 AD. So this story must start in May or June of 2016 AD.

3.2016 + 2 months = 5.2016
or
4.2016 + 2 months = 6.2016.

Presumably, it is actually mid 2016 AD and the birthdate in Davis' file has been mistakenly recorded or displayed.

[The film's main action begins with a time setting title card reading "8 YEARS LATER" that is famously entirely and impossibly incorrect. An entire page of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wiki exists solely to disprove it. 8 years after the events of "The Avengers" (2012), which takes place in 2012 AD, would put us in 2020 AD.

2012 + 8 = 2020.]

Finally, the prologue depicts a scene that must take place mere days or, at most, weeks after the end of "The Avengers" (2012). Again, that story takes place in May of 2012 AD so this flashback prologue must happen in May or June of 2012 AD.

It is a chronologically midway film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and an early film to feature Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
