When Does "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: Firestorm" (2014) Take Place?

"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: Firestorm" is a science fiction novel written by Greg Keyes that released May 27th, 2014. So when is "Firestorm" set?

It takes place on an alternate timeline of the fictional Planet of the Apes universe in the year:

2016 AD

We know this because early in the book, when David Flynn is watching a TV news broadcast, the narrator tells us, "They were showing footage of the bizarre events on the Golden Gate Bridge five days ago", referring to the climax of the film, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011), which occurs in July of 2016 AD. About three-quarters through the film, an issue of the "San Francisco Chronicle" newspaper dated "Monday, July" with an unclear day number that appears to be "18," followed by "2016" is delivered to a doorstep. Since "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011) ends on July 18th or July 28th, 2016 AD five days later must be July 23rd or August 2nd, 2016 AD.

It is the chronologically earliest novel in the Planet of the Apes universe and can be read at its timeline point.
