When Does "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" Season Two (2026) Take Place?
"Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" season two is an adventure horror (kaiju) television series showrun by Chris Black that premiered February 27th, 2026. So when is "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" season 2 set?
It takes place on the fictional MonsterVerse timeline in the year:
We know this because it picks up mere minutes after the epilogue of season one episode ten "Beyond Logic", which takes place in 2017 AD.

2017 AD
We know this because it picks up mere minutes after the epilogue of season one episode ten "Beyond Logic", which takes place in 2017 AD.
Furthermore, during season two episode four "Trespass", when Corah/May makes a fake identification badge she makes sure it reads "20 17" presumably to make it appear current and valid. More conclusively, in the same episode, Colonel Lee Shaw says, ..."Titan X isn't due back before 2023." and Kentaro Randa replies, "So, Bill Randa was late and we're 6 years too early?"
2,023 - 6 = 2,017.
Additionally, the season contains numerous prologues as well as minor and major flashbacks to multiple points over the 20th and 21st centuries:
In season two episode one "Cause and Effect", there is the first of numerous flashbacks and the first begins immediately? with a time and place setting title care superimposed over the footage that reads, "SANTA SOLEDAD 1957". So these flashbacks probably take place in 1957 AD though this can't be confirmed via context.
Then, season two episode three "Secrets" includes a short epilogue that begins with a yellow title card reading: "1962". Though this cannot be confirmed via context it is probably 1962 AD.
There is a multi-part prologue to season two episode four "Trespass" in which a time setting title card scrolls with pauses from "1962" to "1963", then to "1964" and to "1973" before finally setting on "2015". So, presumably, it is actually 1962 AD, then 1963 AD, and 1964 AD though none of that lasts a full minute each and therefore has no context to confirm them. The 2015 AD moment is similarly not easily confirmed other than taking place before the present of 2017 AD. The 1973 AD portion makes sense as occurring in the fallout of the events of the film "Kong: Skull Island" (2017), which takes place in January of 1973 AD. So it must be after January of 1973 AD.
Then, another prologue opens season two episode five "Furusato" that depicts the day of Kentaro's birth. It begins immediately with a time and place setting title card reading: "TOKYO, JAPAN 1990". So it is most likely 1990 AD. Soon, there is also a small flashback followed later by another to the same setting seen in season one episode one "Aftermath" (2023). That scene had a title card that said, "KAZAKHSTAN 1959". This year seems not to be confirmable by further context either but is presumably 1959 AD. In yet another short flashback, we see a character informed of something the audience saw happen in a prologue scene of season one episode one "Aftermath" (2023) with a title card of its own: "2013". This new scene also has a yellow title card telling us it's "2014". This isn't really confirmable but it must take place during or after 2013 AD, so 2014 AD is as logical anything.
It is the chronologically second-earliest TV series in the MonsterVerse Universe and can be watched at its timeline point between the films "Godzilla" (2014) and "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" (2019) or between "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" (2019) and "Godzilla vs. Kong" (2021) [with or without "Kong: Skull Island" (2017)] as an extended flashback, or entirely separately.
